The Music of the Pearl

I think that the last line of this book symbolizes that the greed and misfortunes of the pearl have now left considering that it is back in the ocean. Although the opportunities of the pearl are now gone there is still something to be said that the absence of the pearl in their lives will do them good. They will no longer be attacked by their greedy neighbors or consumed with the repetitive music of the pearl. After this experience I think that Kino’s family will become even closer and come to realize that any treasure, no matter how great, always comes with a more sinister hold on them than they realize; and that is why they wont let greed cloud their judgment anymore.

  1. I say this is a solid 4, this is why: My favorite thing that you said about the Pearl was how Kino's neighbors attacked them because they had the pearl and how they keep on getting the evil music in their heads. You also did refer to the motif of music and considered the facts that they will no longer have the opportunity to be rich or send their son to school. You showed that you understood the symbolism of the pearl and showed us what you knew about it. You showed how after the pearl was thrown into the ocean no bad things would happen ever again. You have a very good post.
